The Shows The Canadian Championships of Magic Come and watch as some of the best magicians in Canada compete for the title of Canadian Champion of Magic. In the first half, stage magicians from around the country will present their acts and be judged by a panel of experts as well as by you, the public. The second half of the show will feature MAJINX, the winners of the 1999 championships. This talented team combines mechanical wizardry, music, comedy and an outlandish cast of characters to deliver an exciting and colourful illusion show. In addition to their large scale illusions, MAJINX will invite members of the audience on stage to share the spotlight and the wonder along with them. If all this weren't enough, the show will be MC'd be Montreal's own David Acer. A Gemini-award-nominated writer and comedian, as well as a critically acclaimed magician, David Acer is known for his wacky stunts, such as protesting outside a train station dressed as a giant penny, inviting people to lie down on the tracks to "see how it feels". With David as the host for the evening, you won't know what to expect next.
In 1845, Parisian magician Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin revolutionized magic with his show "Les Soirées Fantastiques". Following in this tradition the Sunday night gala show will be an evening to remember. George Saterial, the only two-time Gold medal winner (IBM & SAM) in magic, and Arthur Trace, FISM winner and SAM Gold medal recipient, will perform their trademark manipulation acts. Nathan Kranzo, an internationally renowned performer and lecturer, will present his brand of mindreading with a twist, while Ted Outerbridge will present his stunning illusions, plus a few surprises along the way. Your host for the gala will be Alain Choquette, a critically acclaimed magician in his own right having performed for extended, sold-out runs in both Quebec and Las Vegas. Alain Choquette is a master of both intimate magic and grand illusions, and has long been a staple of Quebec television, performing first on Ad-Lib, and later hosting the Quebec version of the Bachelor and Passion Maison.
